A New Do...for Rocklin

A little while back, we had Amanda (my sister-in-law come June 5th) give Rocklin his first haircut. She did a great job, but Rocklin's hair grows fast and he was starting to look like an orphan child, so today I decided we needed to take him in to get it cut again. I refused at first to take him to "Snip-It's" this children's haircutting salon, however I got a coupon in the mail for half price (you know me, the coupon nerd) so we decided to give it a whirl. This was his first time in an actual salon chair, and getting Rocklin to sit still for any amount of time is like asking the sun to stop shinning on an Arizona summer day...not going to happen! Luckily the girl who cut his hair was fast and used to squirmy little kids, so she was able to give him the cut we wanted and in record time! Here are some pictures from the big adventure:

Haha! He looks like he's being tortured with the clippers.

Thank heavens they had suckers - this was the ONLY way he would sit still!

Check out the drool on his cape - he was really enjoying this sucker! In fact, I think in this picture he was already on sucker #2.

This is the only true "after" picture we could get; little wiggle worm! (and still going strong with the sucker!!)

You can see what a change his new haircut makes...from the post below (which the pictures were taken yesterday) to the "after" picture! He looks so cute and SO grown up now!

100% Boy

Rocklin is getting so big! He's almost 15 months old now; I can hardly believe how fast he's becoming a little boy. And all boy he is. Rocklin is into EVERYTHING these days. His favorite past times are a) destroying and eating anything paper - newspaper, books, etc. and b) pulling everything out of the nightstands next to our bed. Don't ask me what is so exciting about a couple of journals and some UNO cards, but those will keep Rocklin entertained for a long, long time.
Caught! The look of guilt.
Rocklin got invited to an Elmo birthday party (he loves Elmo) and he had so much fun playing in all the tissue paper from the birthday girl's gifts! (Don't be fooled by the solemn look on his face - he had a great time!)

Yum-to-the-Um

Last night I made the most delicious dinner. I had bacon and chicken and searched the Internet for a recipe for some sort of bacon wrapped chicken. I was pleasantly surprised when I found a recipe with only 5 ingredients. That's right, 5. But that wasn't the best part. The best part was that it turned out SO delicious!! If you're looking for something quick, easy and really good...I totally recommend this. (And no, that picture isn't mine, I got it from the website where I found the recipe. HERE is the link to their version of the recipe as well as additional pictures).

Here's the recipe (and I scaled mine down to just a few pieces of chicken):

12 boneless skinless chicken breasts halves

2 (8 oz) cartons chive and onion cream cheese

12 slices of bacon

salt (to taste)

2 tablespoons butter

  1. Pound the chicken down to 1/2" thick each.
  2. Spread each piece of chicken with the cream cheese.
  3. Sprinkle salt on top of the cream cheese mixture. Add a pat of butter.
  4. Roll the chicken and wrap the bacon pieces around the chicken. Secure with a toothpick.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35 - 40 minutes.
  6. Broil for the last 5 or 6 minutes to get the bacon to desired crispiness.

American Idol...here's what I think.

So I'm sure a lot of you are tuning in this year to good ol' American Idol. I sure am. I love this show. I even got Adam to watch it with me...not really by choice, but he's a good husband. :) Anyway, I thought I'd break down my thoughts so far this season. Feel free to comment and leave yours - I want to know what you think, too. (And I got all the pictures from HERE).

Adam - I'm sorry dude, but you're weird. The way you like try to make love to the camera when they do close up shots of you...creepy. You can sing, but you're still creepy. What in the heck were you thinking with that seriously strange version of Ring of Fire last night? Oh, and ease up on the makeup, bro.
Alexis - Now this is going to sound pretty rude, but I'm going to say it anyway. You remind me of a trailer-trash type of girl. From the random pink highlights to the awful lipstick you wear every week, I just don't think I can like you. You can sing OK, in fact, for a person as little as you are, you have a pretty strong voice, but I'm still not a fan.

Allison - Homegirl, you can sing. Your personality is seriously lacking, but you can sing like no other. I'm a fan. I like the deepness in your voice and think you can really work the stage. I find you entertaining, which is the reason we all watch the show. Keep up the good work.

Anoop - Hmm. I'm torn on you. At first I really liked you, then I thought you were trying way too hard, but then after last night's show, you won me back....for now, at least. I think I'd like to see you stay around for a few more weeks just to see what else you have up your sleeve.

Danny - Oh, Danny. What can I say. I love you! I have loved you since the beginning. You sing well, you're cute and you have a touching story. I hope you make it to the final two.

Kris - You are innocently cute to me. I like the way you sing and the way they always zoom in on your cute wifey during the show. I like a guy who can rock an acoustic guitar and I'd love to have you around the next campfire singalong I go to. (Which we all know, I'm not a big campfire girl, but if I were, I'd want Kris there to entertain). I think you'll be around on the show for a good while, but don't think you'll make it to the top.
Lil - First of all, what is your real name? Adam thinks it's really Lil, and I think that is just a nickname. Can you clear that one up for us, please? Anyway, you have some serious lungs my friend, but last night was rough for you. Overall, I like you OK, but you're not my favorite by any means. I think I just like you on R&Bish type of songs, period.

Matt - I wonder who I love more...You or Danny? I really like your voice. You remind me of one of my all-time favs, JT. I love the way you sing. I love that you can rock the piano. I think I'd buy your CD. I can't wait to see more of you on the show.Megan - Megan from Sandy. To me you seem like one of those Mormon-girl-gone-bad types. And seriously, WHAT is up with that stupid hip-shake-dance-move you do ALL the time? It looks so corny, just so you know. I think you have an OK voice - it's different, that's for sure - but I'd be OK if you got voted off tonight.Michael - Dude, at first I really liked you. I thought you were cute and could sing pretty good. But since the beginning, you've continued to let me down. I don't think I'm a fan anymore. Scott - Well, you are inspiring for sure. You are an excellent piano player and an OK singer, in my opinion. I agree with what Paula said last night - show us something different. I'm afraid all you got in you is the soft, piano-playing type of music. Which, don't get me wrong, it's nice, but it's not what I want to see in the next American Idol. So there you have it. My take on the current top 11. Once a few more get whittled off the show, I may come back and recap my thoughts again (if I have another boring morning like I had this morning). Oh, and I know I'm a big nerd for writing this post, but it was fun.
Now, comment and tell me who you like!!!

Question

Can anyone please share with me how to add the feature on your blog that shows when the last time someone updated their blog? I found something - but it makes you add your links one at a time. Can I do it all at once? Does that make sense? Thanks. I'm tired of blog stalking just to find out there aren't any updates. :)

My Guys

This past weekend we met up with some friends from Adam's mission over at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. They were just traveling thru, and it was fun to see them! Sadly, I didn't get any pictures with Adam and his favorite mission family, but I did get some while we were waiting out front.

Rocklin sportin his new shades.
Daddy and Rock enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather!

Rocklin has been making this face a lot lately. Not sure where he picked this up...

Need Shampoo?

It's been a while since I posted on a "good deal" so I thought I'd share my Walgreens deal for this week. (And I'm sure some of you savvy shoppers out there have already taken advantage of this deal, but just in case...). Right now in the Walgreens Easy Saver catalog (which you can pick up in the front of the store), there is a $2 off any Garnier Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner or Styler (not including the serum). There have been LOTS of Garnier coupons in the past month or two in the Sunday papers for $1 off. The Garnier products run an average of $2.99 normally. If you combing the Easy Saver coupon plus your manufacturer's coupons, you get FREE stuff! I got everything in the picture below for FREE (other than tax, which was just about a dollar). I am definitely set on hair products for a good while now. Now if I can just get this kind of deal on Aveda products....haha...yeah right!

Nothing exciting, but at least it's a new post!!

Man, have I been a boring blogger lately, or what?!?! I got tired of looking at the Bachelor as my latest post, so I decided I have to post something...anything! I do have some crafty things up my sleeve for a couple of baby showers I'm going to in the next couple of months, but I'll have to wait to share those so I don't ruin any surprises. Other than that, since I lost my job, Rocklin and I have just been chillin, reading books, playing outside, mall-walking, etc. Meanwhile, Adam has been working really hard at his job lately, doing the best he can working in the Commercial Construction industry in a poor economy. Maybe one of my brothers will get engaged sometime soon so I'll have something new and exciting to share here real soon! (hint, hint...)
For your viewing pleasure, I've pulled a few recent pictures off my camera to share.

One of Rock's favorite places to play...Mom & Dad's closet!
Rocklin modeling his new flip-flops. They sure are cute, but they don't stay on worth a dang!
Due to lack of space, I store my scrapbook/craft stuff in Rocklin's closet. This was a great idea when I first put it in there because Rocklin couldn't even crawl, let alone open the door and pull out all my stuff. As you can see, he's quickly learned that making messes out of Mom's stuff that she "hid" is way too much fun.
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck... Yes folks, Rocklin likes to eat wood (and paper, and trash, etc.). I know a lot of babies chew on their crib, but Rocklin's made it a bad habit and I've GOT to get a plastic strip to put on their before he chews it to pieces!! Gee, I sure am glad we decided to spring for the nicer baby furniture.

Are You Kidding Me??

Seriously, Jason? Seriously? If you watched the show last night, you know what I'm talking about. Who does this guy think he is? I wish Melissa would have smacked him on TV last night. And now I'm glad he didn't end up picking Jillian (my favorite) because he probably would have done the same to her! Oh, and Molly...at least save some face and don't jump right in and kiss the idiot! Play a little hard to get. He didn't pick you initially, remember?? Anyway, apparently there is a "part 2" tonight following up yet again. What else could they possibly say?
D-R-A-M-A. But I love it!!
