Updates...

Today I put Rocklin in his crib for a nap for the first time (usually I just put him in his bassinet). I want him to start getting used to his crib and I think that all the bright colors will be good for stimulating him. I turned on his mobile thinking he'd like the sounds and check out his reaction...he's totally covering his ears!

A couple days ago we went to the pediatrician for Rocklin's two week check-up. I was excited to get him weighed because he hadn't yet caught back up to his birth weight, which was 5 lbs. 3 oz. He weighed in at 5 lbs. 9 oz.!! We were excited; he gained an ounce a day, which the pediatrician says is perfect! Hopefully soon he'll start to fit into more of his clothes! His little cheeks are starting to fill out, but he's still got his cute little bird legs:

Baby Shower

Last night two of my sister-in-laws and my visiting teachers threw me a baby shower that was originally scheduled for the day Rockin was delivered, so we had to reschedule. There was a great turnout and we had so much fun! We got so many fun things, a lot of fun outfits that Rocklin will be able to wear once he gets a little bigger. Thanks to everyone who came!

Look at all Rocklin's fun gifts!

This is a very special present that Rocklin's Great Aunt Wendie brought to the shower. It's an antique rocking chair that his great-grandparents Jon & Gerry Young bought up in Canada back in the late '60's. They restored the chair and it's been in the family since. Thanks, Wendie for such a special gift! The black finish matches his nursery furniture perfect!

Thanks Grammy!!!

My mom has been here for the past two weeks to help out with Rocklin. What a blessing!! She's been so amazing in helping us with everything from diaper changes to feedings to watching the baby while I catch up on sleep to cooking meals and doing laundry. I don't know how I would have made it through these first two weeks without her. She's leaving tomorrow and we're REALLY going to miss her!! Thanks, Mom for everything...we love you and appreciate all the sacrifices you've made for us. We already can't wait to see you again!!

More Rocklin pictures

We've been taking a lot of pictures of Rocklin since we've been home and I wanted to share some of the latest.

My mom put Rocklin in his crib this morning for the first time since he's been home. He loved his mobile and watched it intently while the music played:

He was also really fascinated by a pooh bear doll that Kory gave him (thanks Kory!). I think he likes all the bright colors: Rocklin loves to have his hands up around his face or just over his head, especially when he is sleeping.

Adam is such a cute and proud papa! I hope Rocklin gets his daddy's big blue eyes once he's a little bit bigger.

Thanks to Hillary and Angie for sending this fun cookie bouquet in honor of Rocklin's arrival!

Rocklin Jay Birkmeyer

Our beautiful baby boy has arrived! Rocklin Jay Birkmeyer was born on Saturday, January 12 in the late afternoon. He weighed 5 lbs. 3 ozs. and was 19 inches. I ended up having a C-Section due to some concerns, but everything went well. We just got home on Thursday from the hospital and it is SO nice to be home! Our home is so different already with the presence our our cute little guy! We are very blessed to have a healthy, happy baby! Here are some long awaited pictures:
Proud Papa!

Sleepyhead! Check out all that golden hair!

Daddy AdamB cuddling with his boy.

We caught him sucking his thumb the other day! SO cute...

Rocklin is such an angel - he is so little and sleeps a lot. He's loving his bassinet:

Going home from the hospital! Daddy bought him the cutest going home outfit. We weren't expecting a preemie, so Adam had to go out and get some teeny tiny clothes so he wouldn't drown in the newborn sized clothes!

Rocklin's first bath. He's not a huge fan of the bath, yet.

7th Times a Charm??

Just a quick update - yesterday after my doctor's appointment, they sent me to the hospital for "further evaluation and possible induction of labor" because they said things weren't looking good with the blood pressure and a few other things. So we head to the hospital (I think my name is on the VIP list in the OB triage there at this point) and get hooked up to the monitors, etc. The hospital nurses monitor me and the baby for a couple hours and then you guessed it, send me BACK home and asked me to go back to the doctor's office today for yet another follow up appointment at which time they'll decide what to do. Seriously people, can we all agree and quit giving me the runaround?!?!?! Baby Rocklin is holding up well during all of this, bless his heart, he's probably wondering what the heck is going on! I've had so many ultrasounds at this point I can't even remember how many. It is fun to see his cute face though a couple times a week!

Anyway, I go back to the doctor in about an hour or so and we'll see how this goes! Maybe the 7th trip to the hospital will be our lucky trip....

New Nursery Pictures

Adam's been working so hard on getting the nursery painted and he finished last night! It looks so cute...it's such a little boy's room. We still need to put up some wall hangings, but I wanted to share some pictures of the paint. Also, just an update - I'm still at home on bed rest, same old, same old with everything...but based on what the doctors keep telling me, if I had to guess I'd guess we'll be having this baby sometime next week. We'll see if I'm a good guesser!
