Birthday Helper

I am the world's worst at remembering birthdays! I've been wanting something I could track birthdays on like a calendar or something so that I wouldn't forget. So for Mother's Day this year I got this SUPER cute Vera Bradley Card Organizer that has a different page for each month to list birthdays and a slot to hold cards. (Which by the way, I fell in love with Vera Bradley when I was out in Georgia thanks to my new sister-in-law Megan and her mom Tracy!). I have no excuses now!
Would you do me a favor and leave a comment with your birthday - even if you think I know because guarantee that I have forgotten or will forget it if I don't have it written down! Which reminds me...happy belated birthday to my best friend Hillary whose birthday was on May 9th and guess what...I forgot!

We're Baaaaack!

We are now back in town from our FUN trip to Georgia and we also moved this weekend into our new apartment. As you can image, it's been crazy busy trying to get things organized, clean, etc. etc. I took a ton of pictures on our trip and once things are a little more settled on my end, I will post the pictures and tell all about our trip/new apartment.

Baby's Got a New Pair of Shoes

Ok, I am the first to admit that sometimes (or more than sometimes) it is painfully obvious that I am a first time mother. I get excited about the silliest little things, just like every new mother should. I'm warning you now that this is going to be one of those posts.

The other day I found the cutest shoes for Rocklin, but I didn't buy them. It was one of those things where when you get home and you keep thinking, dang, should have bought them! So today Rock and I went back to the store and we bought him his first pair of "real" shoes! They are so cute that I had to take a couple of pictures and share with anyone else who feels me on the whole "getting excited about the little things because he's my first" moments. Oh, and eating his hands is his new favorite thing to do, as you can see in the picture. You'd think I dipped his fingers in chocolate the way he loves to eat them!

You know you've been broken into motherhood when...

...you change your son's diaper before running errands then get in the car and on your way just to find out you have his poop under your fingernail. Thank heavens for baby wipes.

Downsizing!

First of all, before I begin this post, let me just say thank you to Ezra & Crystal for recommending Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover book. I just finished reading it and now I'm going to have Adam read it...it's defiantly an excellent book that I would recommend to anyone regardless of their financial situation! For me it was a wake up call to make some major changes so that when Rocklin is a little older we'll be free to take him to Disney World, buy a new house, etc. without always worrying about the money.

With that being said, Adam and I are going to be moving in a couple of weeks (the day I get back from GA actually) from our beautiful home to a 2-bedroom apartment. Good bye 2500 sq. ft., hello 977 sq. ft.!!! This is defiantly going to be an adjustment for us, but we are both excited about the changes we are making. We'll be moving closer to Adam's work, so that will be nice to save on gas too. Plus, the complex has 2 swimming pools and you know in this Arizona heat we are REALLY looking forward to that! Rocklin even has the cutest little baby Gap swimsuit that his Aunt Megan and Uncle Aaron bought him - can't wait to try it out!

I think what I'll miss the most is our amazing kitchen (especially the island - our new kitchen is about as big as JUST the island!):

On a positive note, at least our new place will look decorated (unlike our place now) since it's so much smaller. And one of the biggest benefits is way less to clean!! Yeah!! I'll be emailing out our new address once we have moved. Wish us luck!

Pay It Forward Game!!

I'm participating in a Pay It Forward Exchange that I copied from my friend Aimme's blog.
Want to play?

I will send a small handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment on my blog. You will receive your gift within a month from leaving your comment, hopefully! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog (or to 3 people in your life, if you're not a blogger). I hope you comment so you can enjoy the fun too!! To join, just cut and paste this on your blog and comment away. Keep in mind that if you want to get something from me, you have to give.

This will be fun to see see what I get from Aimee and and then to see who I get to send some cute stuff to!

Update

Just a quick update from the comments on the post below...

1. Someone asked me if I was selling the burp cloths. I'd be happy to sell them 2 for $10 (plus a few bucks for shipping). If anyone is interested please email me with your preference of ribbon color and style (polka dots, stripes, etc.) at kbirkmeyer @ gmail. com (obviously without the spaces in the email address...I just didn't want to get spam in my email).

2. We will be coming to Georgia for my little brother's wedding here shortly. I'll be there from April 30 - May 10. I'd love to get together with anyone out there...email me at the email address above if you are available for lunch or just for me and Rocklin to stop in and say hello!
